About The Italian American Cook

You can't tell from this photo, but I'm on the short side.

I'm usually not this serious.

I’m Patty Lamberti. As you may have guessed, I consider myself Italian American, among other things.

My dad comes from Piendelogotti, Italy, and moved to America when he was 20 because he saw a Clint Eastwood movie and thought everyone in America would be cool like Clint.

Upon moving to America, he quickly discovered that wasn’t quite true. Fortunately, he met my mother. Her parents moved to America when they were in their 40s. They hailed from Pievepelago, Italy.

I started this blog because I want to share the recipes my mother has taught me, plus a few of my own.  It also makes me think that I’m being productive while sitting on the couch, watching TV.

I teach online journalism at Loyola University Chicago, so I’d be somewhat of a fraud if I didn’t maintain my own blog. I’ve held writing and editing positions at Playboy, Latina and mylifetime.com.  You can see some writing samples at my official and boring web site.

I live with my husband, dog and two cats (though I swear I’m not a crazy cat lady). My husband is often the cameraman for these videos and full time critic of my cooking.

If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, email me at patty.lamberti@gmail.com. I’d also be thrilled to post recipes from you!
